Chances are if you’re going out to a restaurant for dinner, you expect friendly service once you sit down. But if you’re going for a bite at Ed Debevic’s in Chicago, Illinois, you’re likely going to be told to eat quick and get out.
The retro-themed diner’s shtick is snarky service. Don’t you dare think you’ll get a please or thank you here. This week, a clip featuring one of their waitresses dishing out some first-class sass to a group of patrons hit the web, turning her into a viral sensation. “Cherry” curtly speaks her mind after each customer places their order, comically belittling their frugality for just ordering water, shaming another for ordering off the kids’ menu and yelling at a child for not speaking loud enough.
Would this be anywhere else, there’s no doubt that patrons would be booting it. But instead, they’re eating up. After all, that’s how they roll at Ed’s. Capishe?
