After months of rumors, People has it that Adele and Skepta are dating. The magazine is reporting that a source close to the Grammy winner and Grime rapper has confirmed that the longtime friends have been dating for months. Should fans expect a musical collaboration soon? In 2020, anything is possible.People’s source told the magazine that "things have been heating up" for months between Adele and Skepta (real name Joseph Junior Adenuga). "They run in the same circles in London, and she's having fun."However, it looks like Adele is denying the reports just hours after they went public. In an Instagram post thanking the cast and crew of Saturday Night Live following her hosting stint this past weekend, the singer concluded her caption with, "I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year." Well, okay then.Adele and Skepta are both from the same hometown of Tottenham in London and have spoken about their friendship in the past, often praising each other’s music. In 2016, Adele shared a picture of the Mercury Prize winner, captioning the image “Tottenham Boy” and adding a heart emoji. Adele also included the hashtag Konnichiwa, the title of Skepta’s fourth studio album. Skepta spoke about the pair’s friendship that same year, telling the Evening Standard that Adele consistently reaches out to the Brit Award nominee. “Adele texts me all the time and keeps me in check,” said Skepta. “She speaks to me about how things are going. She’s one of the people I know that, from her [example] alone, you can move in a certain way where you’re not inviting fame. She’s the biggest artist in the world, bro, and you do not see her in the papers [every day].”Skepta and Adele have both managed to enjoy a private life out of the public eye while still experiencing a massive amount of success in the music industry. According to People, the pair have bonded over their shared desire to remain out of the spotlight and their commitment to their children. Adele shares her 8-year-old son Angelo with ex-husband Simon Konecki, while Skepta welcomed his daughter River in 2019.[video_embed id='2061379']RELATED: Adele is just as excited as we are for her return to the spotlight[/video_embed]The British rapper has not revealed the identity of his former partner but spoke to his sister Julie Adenuga for Apple Music’s Beats 1 in June 2019 and revealed that the couple had experienced two miscarriages before River’s birth. Skepta was previously linked to supermodel Naomi Campbell and appeared on the cover of the UK edition of GQ in March 2018.Adele and Konecki had been together for seven years when the singer filed for divorce in September 2019. Since their separation, Adele has split her time between London and Los Angeles and has been focusing on her health and her son. The singer returned to social media in May after an extended absence and revealed a 100 pound weight loss. Adele referenced her new look during the aformentioned SNL appearance."I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but actually, because of all the Covid restrictions I had to travel light and I could only bring half of me," joked Adele during her opening monologue. "And this is the half I chose." During her appearance in Studio 8H, Adele confirmed that she was still working on her fourth studio album, but thankfully gave fans a short performance during a sketch spoofing The Bachelor.
