*** WARNING: Graphic language ahead! (of course, it is Russell Brand, so…) ***
If making collar-tugging, controversial comments were an art form, Russell Brand would totally be the genre’s da Vinci. And his latest online tirade against the Queen could be his most controversial work yet.
After footage leaked of a seven-year-old Queen Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret doing a Nazi salute in 1933, Brand took to his Facebook page to rant about how ridiculously archaic it is that England has a class pyramid topped by a “Bratwurst-Kraut-Nazi” Queen. Here is the video that spurred the whole thing:
Then Brand ranted. Oh, how he ranted.
Yowza. Suffice it to say, some of his social media fans were unimpressed. Angry and disgusted comments were posted, such as:
“You’ve done enough in your past that is beyond acceptable and explainable, while you were an accountable adult. Stop talking rubbish and getting your facts wrong. You’re making a fool of yourself!”
“Disappointing rant, Russell. The present Queen was born ‘Windsor,’ the family’s change of name having occurred decades before she was born. And calling her ‘your Royal Highness’ or ‘Majesty’ seems like a small price to pay for her hard work on all our behalf.”
‘I was totally with you Russell until the Nazi name calling at the end and then you kind of lost the upper moral hand.’
One fan even posted a photo of Brand shaking hands with the Queen and wrote:
“So..tell you what… I dare you to say all this to her face the next time you bow and shake her hand with that plum puddin grin you had all over your face.”
What do you think? Did Brand cross the line more than he should have this time? Let us know how you feel about Brand’s tirade in the comments section below.
