He’s good-looking. He’s a dad. He’s Canadian and apparently, he’s also a feminist. Is there no end to the number of ways Ryan Gosling can endear himself to us?
Apparently, not. Because when you’re one of the most sought-after men in the world, you gotta have what it takes. And Ryan really, really has what it takes when it comes to ladies who are tired of being under-appreciated for all that they do.
In a recent interview with ES Magazine, the actor straight up revealed what he thinks of women:
“I think women are better than men. They are stronger, more evolved. You can tell especially when you have daughters and you see their early stages, they are just leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately.”
He also shared what he thinks in the context of the current U.S. election. When asked about whether America needs a female president he was quick to say yes, pointing out women’s awesome qualities by drawing on his own experiences with his mother, sister, wife and two daughters.
“I was brought up by my mother and older sister. I found my way into dance class. My home life now is mostly women. They are better than us. They make me better,” he revealed.
As if that alone isn’t enough to make our hearts pretty much melt, the 35-year-old also took it one step further by countering what Game of Thrones star Kit Harington said recently about how men need to stop being objectified in Hollywood. Instead, Gosling pointed out that maybe it’s time men took their turn dealing with that kind of behaviour given how long women have had to put up with it.
“It’s our time as men to be on the receiving end of the stick,” he added “I grew up with women so I’ve always been aware of it. When my mother and I walked to the grocery store, men would circle the block in cars. It was very scary, especially as a young boy. Very predatory — a hunt.”
Excuse us while we swoon a bit here. Who knew there was more to those famed Hey Girl memes and the Feminist Ryan Gosling Tumblr account after all?
We might just have to go out and buy ourselves a copy of the book after all.
