There were rumours recently that Sandra Bullock had adopted another baby. Of course, the rumours were based on paparazzi sightings of the actress carrying a baby girl into a hospital in late October but she said at the time, “There’s only one adopted child in my household and his name is Louis. If I had a second adopted child, everyone would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear. And say, ‘Yes, I have officially adopted a second child.’ Right now, Louis must be it.”
So, technically, Sandra wasn’t lying. Because while she hadn’t officially adopted anyone yet, she was working her way towards giving Louis a sibling. And now it’s official.
Sandra covers the new issue of People magazine with five-year-old superhero Louis and three-and-a-half daughter Laila (pronounced Lila). The reason she kept the adoption quiet was because she was fostering the little girl and the adoption process would have been jeopardized if word got out before everything was finalized.
Bullock was still being evaluated by Children’s Protective Services and had to sign a confidentiality report to protect the child’s identity. When Sandy found out a pap followed them, took their pictures and they were being shopped around to tabloids, she had to get lawyers involved so no one would publish the photos.
Sandra told People that the adoption process began about three years ago when Louis “spearheaded this whole journey” — by asking for a sibling. So she got to work. Bullock went through the foster care system, found Laila and the rest is history. Sandy and Louis had to help Laila adjust to her new life, make her feel safe and comfortable and convince her they would never abandon her and always be with her and just … wow.
Bullock added: “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.” How much more do you love her?
