If you’re anything like us and you’ve been missing a certain tutu-sporting sex-and-romance writer and her three savvy New York City besties, then you were probably tickled 50 shades of pink over the weekend. That’s when Carrie Bradshaw-portrayer Sarah Jessica Parker announced on Instagram that she’s finally bringing back her fashionable friend… at least for a limited-time engagement.

It’s been nine years since we last saw Carrie, in that often-ignored Sex and the City movie sequel. Considering it was confirmed last year that a third movie will never happen, thanks to the ongoing strife between Parker and Samantha Jones actress Kim Cattrall, we’re pumped higher than a Bradshaw-approved Manolo Blahnik to see her back. No matter what capacity she’s returning to us in.

After all, who else do we have to narrate those oh-so-relatable triumphs and tribulations in the love department these days? Other series have tried and failed (here’s looking at you, Lipstick Jungle), Girls is over, and a new season of Insecure won’t hit Crave until at least the summer. We need some more Carrie Bradshaw in our lives already.

Parker gets it, which is why she teased the character’s grand return on Instagram last Saturday.

My old friend. She is making a brief reappearance. Partnering with a great brand and supporting a cause we all care about. More to come. X, SJ

“My old friend,” Parker wrote with an accompanying teaser video. “She is making a brief reappearance. Partnering with a great brand and supporting a cause we all care about.
More to come. X, SJ”

It’s obvious right away in the seconds-long clip that it is indeed Carrie. The famous SATC theme song plays in the background as the camera pans from the character’s fashionable footwear up to her billowing skirt and belted gold jacket, and eventually all the way up to her face with the hashtag #PourItForward. Whatever that means. We’re not about to guess. Probably some charity, if Parker’s post is any indication.

Anyhow, clearly Parker knows we miss her old friend too (600,000 people saw the post in the first hour alone). That’s why she was on board with a third SATC movie in the first place. Well… before it fizzled faster than a relationship worthy of a Post-It note ending. Apparently she saw a script and everything, and revealed as much last fall in an interview that made our hearts oh-so sad to be missing out on the ongoing plotlines of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.

“I know where it is,” Parker told Fox News of the discarded film. “I read the script. It’s fantastic … It was great, it was beautiful. But I sadly can’t say. But I know where (Carrie) was headed and I know where all (the characters) were headed. It was wonderful.”

Maybe so, but since we’ll never see it, we’re gonna take what we can get. And if a #PourItForward campaign with Carrie is what we’re going to get, well then we’re going to pour ourselves a fresh Cosmo and just enjoy it, gosh-darn it.
