Actor turned fashion designer Sarah Jessica Parker has already conquered the footwear market thanks to her Carrie Bradshaw approved line of heels for SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker. Now the fashion icon is expanding into a new market, this time taking her flawless sense of style to the bridal boutique. Partnering with Gilt, Parker announced her new line SJP by Sarah Jessica Bridal Collection on Monday and, wait for it, it features wedding dresses and bridesmaids’ gowns that can be worn AGAIN. Ladies, rejoice.
Fans of Sex and the City have likely committed to memory the dreamy sequence of Parker’s alter ego Carrie Bradshaw shooting her Vogue fashion spread for the wedding issue, which featured the fictional character wearing dresses by the world’s top designers. While the gowns were all beautiful, they certainly weren’t items that could hang in your closet and be worn to a second event, unless that second event was your second wedding. But we’re pretty sure that’s bad luck.
With Parker’s new line, the fashion designer wanted a collection of gowns that could be worn on a wedding day and to any major event. “The intent is they should be usable outside of that special occasion. Whether you’re the person walking down the aisle, or you’re attending, these are all pieces that should be relevant in your closet,” Parker told Women’s Wear Daily.
Keeping the designs simple and clean, the new line features 10 pieces, including a white jumpsuit for the bride who isn’t interested in wearing a dress on her big day.
Bridesmaid dresses are also designed to (thankfully) not scream ‘bridesmaid dress,’ meaning that shelling out a couple hundred bucks to be in a loved one’s wedding doesn’t also mean having your closet taken up by a dress you can never wear again.
The new bridal line ranges in price from $295 USD for the jumpsuit up to $2,395 USD for an embroidered gown, with sizes going from 0 to 14. To complement the new line of bridal wear, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker footwear is also introducing 15 new styles to help brides look stunning from head to toe on their big day. The new line of shoes will range from $350 USD to $485 USD and can also be worn on a wedding day or to a major event, which is especially helpful if this happens on your big day and you need to repurpose your footwear.
