It’s taken more than a dozen episodes, but it seems as though Saving Hope (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CTV) is finally ready to tackle the issue of Charlie Harris and his ghost-seeing ways. And it’s about time.

Thursday’s latest episode, “Fix You” picked up from last week’s head-spinning instalment of the series, in which Dawn finally called the board after Charlie walked out of a surgery and couldn’t seem to piece himself back together. The board was ready to investigate in full force, meaning that each and every doctor who worked with Charlie over the last little while was being called in to speak with them about Charlie’s miracles.

Not surprisingly, while everyone admitted that Charlie seems to have a magical way of knowing things no one else could (it’s called talking to ghosts, people), they all still pretty much defended the doctor. He knew this, thanks to ghost-ey Amos, who’s still stalking Charlie and trying to get him to come to terms with his issues. (As it turns out Amos is stuck in this limbo space too, and can’t leave until he helps Charlie.)

That’s a lot for one man to take in; we’d be sick of trying to prove our sanity to others too. But the entire ordeal was also beginning to weigh on Alex, who was asked to speak to the board, despite her personal connection to Charlie.

She was stressing out big time, something that wasn’t lost on Layla (returning guest star Missy Peregrym). While Layla waited to be well enough for a discharge from the hospital she kept pushing Alex to open up and try her new-age healing methods in order to clear her energy, and she didn’t even bat an eye when she overhead Alex’s confession that Charlie sees ghosts.

And that’s when the real fun began.

Because as it turns out Layla has her own magical powers too, and she was able to hypnotize Alex into seeing the world through Charlie’s eyes. When Alex was under, she was able to see Amos too. As a result she felt what it must be like to see someone at their most desperate place imaginable and be the only person able to help. The entire experience was so crazy that when Alex woke up she fainted, causing mild alarm to ripple through the hospital walls.

Thankfully, that little experience turned out to be the exact thing Alex needed to say curse-schmurse, and she finally let herself back into Charlie’s life in a pretty big way. (Romantically, obviously!) Of course, he had quit his job before that big moment, but at least the family is now officially back together. We can work on the career stuff next week.

Speaking of families, the second story of the night focused on Shahir and his ongoing quest to adopt a baby. When he just so happened to work a miracle on a pregnant young mother who wanted to give her babe up for adoption, the stars aligned. Looks like the brain doctor could be getting a child of his own after all, and a lot sooner than we all thought.

Now how’s that for (almost) all-around happy endings?

With three episodes to go, we’d say we’re getting there.
