Practically everyone knows their astrological sign, right? Otherwise, how else would you be able to read your daily horoscope whenever it “happens” to pop up? Well what if we told you the sign you’ve been living under all of these years might not actually be your sign at all?

Yeah, we were pretty sad about the identity shift too.

Turns out, a good chunk of people’s astrological signs are now wrong thanks to the gradual movement of the sun and moon, which have thrown the zodiac out of whack over time. By an entire month.

But that’s not even the real kicker. According to BBC, there’s a 13th sign, Ophiuchus, which was deliberately left off the zodiac when it was originally designed more than 2,000 years ago. Their best guess is that astrologers wanted to divide the sun’s 360 degree path into 12 equal, mathematically pleasing ways. So not only might you now have a completely different sign thanks to this wobbling effect on Earth, but your sign could be a completely new one.

You can watch a clip explaining the phenomenon here, but in the meantime, here’s how the article is proposing our new signs actually look:

Jan. 21 – Feb. 16: CAPRICORN
Feb. 17 – March 12: AQUARIUS
March 13 – April 18 – PISCES
April 19 – May 14: ARIES
May 15 – June 21: TAURUS
June 22 – July 20: GEMINI
July 21 – Aug. 10: CANCER
Aug. 11 – Sept. 16: LEO
Sept. 17 – Oct. 31: VIRGO
Nov. 1 – Nov. 23: LIBRA
Nov. 24 – Nov. 29: SCORPIO
Nov. 30 – Dec. 18: OPHIUCHUS
Dec. 19 – Jan. 20: SAGITTARIUS

If you’re one of the lucky 14 per cent or so that happen to keep the same sign, well kudos to you — you’ve been reading the right horoscopes this whole time. As for the rest of us … well, here’s to new beginnings.
