Lakes and oceans are beautiful sights to behold, and, most of the time, you have to be in the water to experience them in all of their glory. Until now, that is. Because a kayak company just came up with a stunning way for you to take in spectacular views of coral reefs and marine life without getting your hair wet.
The Crystal Kayak Company in Florida has created a completely transparent canoe-kayak hybrid that will have you magically floating on the water, able to take a peek at whatever you paddle over. If you didn’t feel like Wonder Woman before, you certainly will after trying one out.
The Crystal Explorer is made entirely from Spanish lexan, the same material used to make windshields on airplanes — so while it may look like super fragile plastic, it’s highly durable. And at 47 pounds, it’s also a lighter alternative to a typical kayak.
With high sides, low, ergonomic seats and an open cockpit, this hybrid’s perfect for maneuvering yourself around the water with ease. Plus, the vessel can seat one or two people at a time (it supports up to 425 pounds). So you can choose to take in the views alone or with someone else.
“We want it to be perfectly easy to use, whether you’re a beginner or an expert,” said Brian Maxfield from Crystal Kayak.
The kayaks start at $1,499 USD (or $1,972 CAD) on the Crystal Kayak website. And for an extra $299 USD, you can have one shipped to Canada (it’ll cost you $49 more to send it to a residential address). You can also upgrade the paddles and opt for everything to be delivered assembled, though both of those features will add even more to the total cost. But if you ask us, it’s worth the price for all the incredible memories you can make with one.
