Selena Gomez is turning her heartbreak and pain into beautiful art with her latest single “Lose You To Love Me.” The popstar has been relatively quiet in the past year, working mostly behind the scenes on TV and movie projects and putting music on the back burner. But after dropping her new track at midnight – it’s official. Selena Gomez is back and better than ever. The emotional and beautifully raw ballad was penned by Gomez along with her longtime writing collaborators Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, Mattias Larsson and Robin Fredriksson (“Hands To Myself,” “Me & The Rhythm”). Gomez teased the single this week on social media, posting lyrics and throwback photos of her childhood, leading many to believe that the new song could be about Gomez’s time as a child star on shows like Barney and Friends and Wizards of Waverly Place. Nope. It was definitely about Justin Bieber. The pics were just a reminder that life before Bieber was rainbows and sunshine.Clarifying the timeline for the emotional track, Gomez wrote in the YouTube comments of “Lose You To Love Me” that her new song was inspired by things that have happened to her since releasing her last album, 2015’s Revival. “I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” said Gomez. So, what’s happened in those four years? Well, Bieber and Gomez reconciled, broke up, reconciled again, and broke up again in March 2018, with Bieber beginning his relationship with Hailey Baldwin and announcing their engagement in July 2018. So, the line “In two months, you replaced us / Like it was easy,” yeah, that’s the Biebs. Selena Gomez may be one of the most successful and talented artists in the world, but your ex moving on five minutes after your breakup still sucks. And if we want to keep playing the Bieber Blame Game, the line “Set fire to my purpose” could be a nod to Bieber’s 2015 album Purpose. A very Taylor Swift-move. Well played, Seleners.Need more convincing? Gomez filmed “Lose You To Love Me” in black and white, which matches the aesthetic from her 2014 music video for “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” which was about…Bieber. In defense of Justin, the singer posted a candid Instagram message in September about his struggle with alcohol and drugs, admitting that he abused all his relationships. “I became resentful, disrespectful to women and angry,” wrote Bieber, who probably isn’t too surprised about the content of “Lose You To Love Me.”Bieber hasn’t commented on Gomez’s new song, but fans are pointing to his wife Hailey Bieber and her ‘coincidental’ Instagram story that included a link to the song “I’ll Kill You,” which she posted only moments after Gomez released her new song. But there are some who believe that Gomez and Bieber will be forever connected despite the drama and Hailey feels threatened. Marci Ien, one of the hosts on The Social, mentioned in a recent episode that she believes feelings run deep between the exes."I think that for Selena and Justin, they are each other's ones," said Ien. "And when it's like that, even though they didn't marry, the person you're with, like Hailey, knows that. She may be Mrs. Bieber but Selena will forever has his heart."But Hailey's uncle, Billy Baldwin disagreed and actually took to Instagram to respond and defend his niece. Turns out everyone has an opinion on the Selena-Justin-Hailey love triangle.
As for Gomez, she’s not being torn down by the enemy today or tomorrow.
