She’s feisty, she’s passionate, she’s hilarious, she’s…. five years old? Our hearts are officially melted, and it’s thanks to a new post from Selena Gomez’s mom. Mandy Teefey, also her former manager, this week shared an unbelievably adorable home video, featuring a pint sized Selena giving the performance of her life. Dated 1997 (yep seriously, c’mon, just look at that brick phone!), she’s talking to mother Mandy, who’s at work, telling her all about her day at school.
@selenagomez talking to me on the phone when I was at work asking about her day at school. My sassy, independent, boss lady, adorable gigantic piece of my heart, first born love. Gracie is exactly like this. Diabolical. XO. My girls are born leaders. Why do they grow up? Her sweet little eyes and massive eyelashes.
The clip shows her playing up her annoyance at teach, and proceeding to pace the room, elaborate hand gestures and everything – we’re pretty sure she’s hamming it up for the camera, and it’s fantastic. She’s animated, passionate, and the best bit “You better, girl!” is sure to have you in stitches. There’s also something about an apple which we didn’t quite get, but she sure seems cut up about it. She ends the call with an adorable and sedate “Love you… bye.” Her trademark baby face has barely changed, and those ringlet pigtails? C’mon!
In the accompanying caption, Teefey describes her daughter as a “sassy, independent, boss lady,” describing her younger daughter Gracie, who’s five, as the same.
Gomez, who starred in her first major TV role in Wizards of Waverly Place at the tender age of 12 and has been in the limelight ever since, clearly showed theatrical instincts early.
Unfortunately, she’s been making headlines this week for all the wrong reasons, with many anticipating her reaction to the news that on-again-off-again ex Justin Bieber has gotten engaged (to Hailey Baldwin… go figure). If we’re going to talk about her past though, we’d rather it was about adorable home video shenanigans, than that ultimately ill-fated love story.
