Selena Gomez talks about her childhood crush on Cole Sprouse
The child star had her first kiss with Cole’s twin, Dylan.

Selena Gomez is one of the biggest pop stars in the world and she’s held that title for a long time. Even before topping the charts with her albums Revival and Rare, Gomez had already garnered a huge following as a result of her work as a child actor on Barney & Friends and Wizards of Waverly Place. Thanks to her starring role on the Disney show, Gomez got to appear alongside her childhood crush Cole Sprouse on his series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Unfortunately Gomez’s storyline — and kiss — was with his brother Dylan. So close.Gomez appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week and revealed that her first kiss was caught on camera for the world to see, and it wasn’t with someone that she was romantically interested in. “Cole Sprouse was on ‘The Suite Life of Zack & Cody’ and I was obsessed with that show and I thought we were gonna be together one day,” said Gomez. “Then I guest-starred on the show but I kissed his brother and I didn’t get to kiss Cole.”[video_embed id='5530288491001']RELATED: Selena Gomez Calls Treatment 'the Best Thing She's Ever Done'[/video_embed]Not only was Selena’s smooch with Dylan her first onscreen kiss, it was her first kiss period. Although the Sprouse brothers are twins, Gomez could definitely tell them apart, jokingly telling Clarkson “It was one of the worst days of my life.”In an Instagram post captured by Comments By Celebs, Cole pokes fun at his brother and responds to Selena’s comments by writing “I can safely safe I’ve never had a girl say this about me.”
Dylan has also now responded to Selena’s ‘worst day ever’ description and playfully tweeted about the dated picture being used by many media outlets. In all fairness, a lot of people thought they looked good in fedoras 10 years ago.
Cole is currently dating his Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart, while Dylan is with Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin, so no need to feel too bad for the actor.Speaking of her time as a child star, Gomez revealed to Clarkson that many of her insecurities as a singer stem from experiencing her adolescence in front of the world. “Because I started so young, there's a huge part of me that didn't get a chance to develop my identity in a normal setting,” said Gomez, who touched on her connection to her latest album Rare. “I've constantly been trying to make my music better and better because, you know, I know that people may not think I'm the greatest singer, but I just work my ass off and I really love writing and creating and creating melodies and growing. I felt like this was my chance to say all the things I wanted to say in that way." To celebrate Gomez’s appearance, Clarkson’s daily cover was of Rare’s lead single “Lose You To Love.”
Gomez also told Clarkson that she’s already back in the studio creating new music, which is in addition to working on her upcoming beauty line. The singer and actor announced Rare Beauty in February, confirming that the first line from her new makeup collection will be released in Canada, the US and Mexico starting in Summer 2020. “I wanted a line that was simple and hypoallergenic and not tested on animals,” said Gomez. “I wanted to feel like every girl can wear it and whoever wants to wear it, but you can also build coverage. It’s simple stuff to let you know how to do the go-to things and it’s beautiful and it’s encouraging. I have so many ideas to come where it can just be something powerful where people can feel good.”
