Sephora has long been a beauty lover’s paradise, with aisle after aisle filled with every cosmetics and beauty tool imaginable. But just in case you needed one more reason to love them, Sephora is launching complimentary in-store makeup classes for the trans and non-binary community.
In 2016, the beauty brand launched Classes for Confidence, 90-minute hands-on beauty classes held in participating Sephora stores that aim to “help inspire fearlessness in those facing major life transitions,” like re-entering the workforce or battling cancer. Their latest offering — “Bold Beauty for the Transgender Community” — aims to hone the makeup skills of transgendered folk in order to build confidence and celebrate the beauty of the trans community.
“A lot of times the trans experience can be very isolating, being out and just being social in the world can be hard for someone who isn’t comfortable with themselves or feeling that they’re being judged by other people,” says Sephora Colour Consultant & Coach Daniel. Makeup can be a new and uncharted territory for some, and with the added challenge of hormones that may be causing all sorts of skin changes, it can be an even more difficult space to navigate. Sharing the experience with other trans individuals can also give one a sense of belonging. According to Hello Giggles, the “course covers application techniques, colour and texture correction, and foundation matching.” Sounds pretty handy, if you ask us.
“Bold Beauty for the Transgender Community” starts in June 2018 and will roll out at 150 Sephora stores. For those unable to attend, not to worry. How-to tutorials will be available on the Sephora Stands YouTube channel.
