We all know the famous adage, “Loose lips sink ships” and it would seem Serena Williams is familiar with the concept. In true #GirlCode fashion, the tennis champion expertly dodged a reporter who questioned her stance on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal departure. Not today, sir, not today…Williams has been close friends with the former Duchess of Sussex since 2010, after the pair met at a Super Bowl party. Apparently, the two bonded during an old-fashioned flag football game (we would definitely want Serena on our team too, so nice pick Meghan), and have been tight-knit ever since. Markle has since cheered on Williams during Wimbledon throughout the years, and Williams attended the Royal Wedding in 2018 and, later, Markle’s baby shower. You know, just your standard Hollywood BFF love-story, but with some high-stakes tennis matches and royal affairs mixed in.So, naturally, when a reporter used his post-Australian Open interview time to pry into how Williams felt about her friends’ “extraordinary and historic” stance, she served it back to him as skillfully as she would on the tennis court. “Yeah. I have absolutely no comments on anything with that,” Williams shot back, “But good try. You tried. You did good.”Note to self: Find a #RideOrDie like Serena Williams.I guess we can’t blame the reporter for trying, since the entire world seems to be talking about the soon-to-be-ex-Royal couple’s historic decision. Over the past week, Prince Harry has been vocal about the uninvited scrutiny the media has placed on his family, especially his wife, stating that they had ‘no other option’ but to step down. On Saturday, the Queen confirmed that the pair would officially omit their HRH royal titles, and would no longer receive public funding.[video_embed id='1880556']RELATED: Prince Harry addresses his decision to step away from royal duties in new speech[/video_embed]So, what comes next for the couple? We’re not sure, and even if Williams knows something we don’t… well, she’s clearly not going to tell us.That’s not to say everyone is as tight-lipped about the Royal news, though. Duchess Camilla, the wife of Prince Charles, was also probed by a reported (perhaps unexpectedly) when she was asked if she miss Harry and Meghan. In the clip, we see the Duchess pause before offering up a slight smile and saying, “Hmmm, Course”. Is it nothing? Was she simply caught off guard? Are we reading into this too much? Do we need to binge watch The Crown to get our fix of royal drama elsewhere? Perhaps we’ll just have to wait and see…[video_embed id='1878267']RELATED: Harry is back at work with the royals[/video_embed]
