Tom Cruise is one of the biggest movie stars of all time, yet so much of his life remains a mystery to fans. Why did he jump on the couch? What is his secret to looking so young? How can he still be involved in Scientology? And did he really not know what internet porn was back in 2006? Thankfully, Judd Apatow is here to elaborate on the last point. You had us at ‘porn.’

During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert this week, Apatow revealed that in 2006, he was asked to take a meeting with Tom Cruise to discuss the possibility of the action star doing a romantic comedy. Wanting to have a witness to what would surely be a memorable meeting, Apatow brought then relatively unknown actor Seth Rogen with him. The three men began talking and as Judd explained, the conversation veered towards marijuana and porn as it always does when Seth is involved.

“And he (Seth) starts talking about adult films on the internet and Tom Cruise goes, ‘What? Wait, you’re saying that there are adult films on the internet?’ And Seth is like, ‘Yeah, there’s all these movies on these websites,’” said Apatow. “And Tom Cruise is like, ‘Wait a second, you’re saying if I go on the computer, on the worldwide web, there are people having sex on this [information super] highway?’”

The conversation veers towards Cruise around the 7:10 mark, with the incredible story also including an equally incredible Seth Rogen impression by Judd Apatow. After one TV show and six films together, we would expect nothing less.

If this was any other actor, we would probably think Cruise was kidding, but for anyone who has watched a documentary on Scientology, we believe it. The rumour that Scientologists are limited in what they’re allowed to Google sounds plausible and really, does the guy who starred in Eyes Wide Shut need to search out additional porn?

From transit announcements to internet porn, let’s just have Seth Rogen explain every topic from now on.
