Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are taking their relationship to the next level, which in the world of young pop stars means a duet at the MTV VMAs. The pair have just been announced as performers at this year’s show, which will mark the live debut of the real-life couple’s new single “Señorita.” The countdown to their first MTV VMA make-out is on.

The couple’s performance likely won’t be the only time we’ll see the photogenic pair on stage. Mendes is nominated for six MTV VMAs this year and Cabello is right behind him with five. Most of the couple’s nominations are for their Latin-infused hit “Señorita,” which is up for Song of the Summer and Best Collaboration, as well as Best Cinematography, Best Choreography and Best Art Direction for the video. Mendes is also up for the coveted Artist of the Year award, a stacked category that this year includes Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Halsey and Jonas Brothers.

The longtime friends got sent their fan groups into overdrive earlier this year when they released a follow-up duet to 2015’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The music video for “Señorita” features the pair getting hot in heavy on the dance floor and in a bedroom. Only a few days after the videos’ release, Mendes and Cabello were spotted kissing in public and have been inseparable ever since. Though they’ve yet to publicly announce their relationship status, a picture is worth a thousand words. On in this case, many pictures. Aw, young love!

Mendes and Cabello are not only breaking hearts with their romance, but they’re breaking records as well. “Señorita” broke the Spotify record for the biggest debut from a male/female duet when it was released earlier this year and debuted at number one on iTunes.

In addition to Mendes and Cabello, Monday’s MTV VMAs will also include a performance by the pair’s close friend Taylor Swift, who is tied with Ariana Grande this year for 10 nominations. A$AP Ferg, Bad Bunny, Big Sean, h.e.r., J Balvin, Jonas Brothers, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Normani, Ozuna, and Rosalia are all scheduled to perform during the main show, as well as Missy Elliott, who is set to receive this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The 2019 MTV VMAs, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco, will air live on Monday, August 26 at 8 p.m. ET. Catch the pre-show at 7 p.m. ET, and stream the whole thing live at MTV.ca/VMA.
