Shawn Mendes never forgets his roots, even when it comes to coffee. The Pickering, Ontario native appears in Tim Hortons’ new ad, called Home Is Where the Heart Is, and it might just make you tear up (yes, really). The 1-minute spot chronicles an actor meant to stand in for a young Shawn ordering hot chocolate from his local Timmys. Fast-forward through his launch to fame, and he returns to the same spot (and same cashier!) for another cup of Tim’s after all these years. Cue the awws.

But that’s not all. You’ll be able to have your own sip of Shawn, so to speak, when Tim Hortons rolls out branded cups starting Friday.

“Shawn grew up going to Tim Hortons, and has always kept us close to his heart,” read a press release from the coffee giant. “We are so excited to partner with Shawn Mendes to celebrate his homecoming stadium show next week & his Canadian roots with the world.”


And Mendes is returning the love for the Canadian institution: “I’m so excited to launch this incredible campaign with Tim Hortons in celebration of my homecoming Toronto show. Tims has been a part of my life since before I can remember and I’m so proud to share my love for this Canadian tradition.”

Official niceties asides, Shawn’s love for Tims goes way back. Someone get this guy a double-double.
