Given how much publicity the Bill Cosby trial for alleged sexual assault has gotten the last little while (not to mention all of the allegations from women over the years who have come forward with additional claims), it should come as no surprise that some pretty big celebs are weighing in on the verdict.
Or, to be more accurate, Cosby’s actual response to the verdict.
People everywhere who were upset about the mistrial became even more enraged when a Cosby spokesperson announced that the actor and comedian would be bouncing back from his public trial by hosting a series of talks aimed at educating people on sexual assault. Specifically, how to avoid being charged with sexual assault.
Um yeah, that’s a big fat nope for many, many people. Sorry, but when so many women come forward, claiming that you drugged and raped them… ugh, where do we even begin with this?
While tons of people have been speaking out, one voice in particular stands out: Shonda Rhimes. Rhimes isn’t just known for writing great TV shows like Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy; she’s also a strong advocate for women’s rights, planned parenthood and a prominent voice in the black community.
So when she took to Twitter with her own disgust over the announcement, people noticed.
From Shonda’s Town Hall on Avoiding Sexual Assault Charges: 1)Do not sexually assault anyone. 2)Shut up-this attention belongs to survivors.

Good for her, putting the attention back where it belongs, on the victims, and on how important it is for us all to speak up.
At the very least, she said what everyone was thinking — and in the most eloquent way possible.
