In news that might make every Star Wars fan boy and girl completely lose their cool, Carrie Fisher has dropped a bomb. And by “bomb,” we mean “sex bomb.” It’s a secret she’s kept close to the vest for the last 40 years, though something many people suspected: she and Harrison Ford had a three-month affair while filming the first movie in 1976. Scandalous!
“It was so intense,” Fisher told People magazine. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.” Bow-chicka-bow-wow.
It started following George Lucas‘ birthday party, and she wasn’t sure if she was good enough for him, she confessed.
“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she wrote in The Princess Diarist. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
Fisher added that their whirlwind romance took her by surprise and it wrapped once filming did. “I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind.”
Sounds hot, right? Well, depends on what your view of cheating is. Ford — who was 33 at the time, to Fisher’s 19 — was a then-married father of two. (ICYDK, he and first wife Mary Marquardt divorced in 1979 after 15 years of marriage; he and second wife Melissa Mathison were married for 21 years before they split in 2004; and Harrison and Calista Flockhart have been married since 2010.)
Carrie gave Harrison a heads-up on the reveal, though didn’t say whether or not he was pissed. But it’s Ford, who gives zero f*cks what anyone has to say so we’re sure he didn’t mind too much, if at all.
