Severus Snape. If there ever was a name that could send a shiver down your spine, it’d be that one. Many Harry Potter fans will attest that they simply disliked Snape from the very beginning. What with his perpetually greasy hair, furrowed eyebrows and apparent disdain for all things Potter, who could blame ’em?  But now an epic tribute to Snape just might change all of that.

YouTuber kcawesome13 painstakingly spliced every important Severus Snape scene from each Harry Potter movie in chronological order, and mashed them up to create one big video montage that’s sure to break your heart. Yeah, Potter fans know that in the end Severus was a good guy after all, but watching his tragic life unfold strictly from Snape’s perspective is another thing altogether.

The video casts Snape as the story’s protagonist. Utterly in love with Lily, tortured by Harry’s dad and ultimately heartbroken by Lily’s death — we see that Snape was broken long before Harry and his pals walked into the halls of Hogwarts for the first time.

We then see Snape — the self-proclaimed Half Blood Prince — protect The Boy Who Lived countless of times — unbeknownst to Harry of course. He’s able to play double agent for Dumbledore, all the while making Harry believe that he’s on Voldemort’s side. Not to mention, confusing fans into thinking he’s a triple — and maybe even a quadruple — agent. That takes talent and we’re finally able to see the full extent of it, thanks to this tribute.

There’s no doubt you’ll shed many a tear as you watch Harry say his final goodbye to Snape who, after all, gave his life to protect the son of his one true love. It’s truly heartbreaking stuff and at the end you’ll feel guilty for still hating the man after all these years.
