It’s always heartbreaking when a beloved dog dies but tragedy struck Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas early in their marriage as one of their pups, Waldo, was hit and killed by a car last week in New York City. And the newlyweds decided to pay tribute to their pet with matching tattoos.

According to TMZ, it was a “freak accident” that took the life of the Alaskan Klee Kai last Wednesday, after their dog walker had Waldo on a leash but the pup got “spooked” by a pedestrian, broke free and ran off before getting struck. Sophie and Joe filed an incident report with police on Friday, telling officers they delayed the filing because they required therapy in the wake of the tragedy. Law enforcement sources told TMZ the driver of the vehicle would not be charged.

Waldo joined Joe and Sophie’s family in April 2018. Originally, Jonas had planned to get Turner just one dog, Porky, but the couple decided they wanted two and ended up adopting Porky’s little brother, Waldo. The late pupper even had his own Instagram account, with over 46,000 followers, that only had one picture: of Waldo (full name Waldo Picasso Jonas) and Porky (full name Porky Basquiat Jonas) looking at each other through a window. Awww.

The couple decided to honour their pet with a permanent gesture and went to Bang Bang to get inked. The shop shared photos of their identical tattoos on social media and Sophie also took to her Instagram stories to share a pic of her tattoo, which she captioned, “I miss you, Waldo. Rest in peace my little baby.”

The couple looked emotional, understandably, over the weekend while on the set of Joe’s music video, as Sophie held their other dog Porky close.

In November 2018, Joe told People magazine about the perks his A-list, saying enjoyed saying, “They live a pretty fabulous life,” whether that meant going on tour with the Jonas brothers or visiting the Game of Thrones set. “They have probably travelled more than most of my friends.”
