After seven books and one play (plus our eight favourite movies) J.K. Rowling has decided to hang up Harry’s cloak. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released this Saturday, and has been a phenomenal success, already. But unlike some authors who continue writing long after their books should have ended, J.K. knows when to call it quits.
The newest Harry Potter book, or shall we say script, was released on Saturday, and was the top pre-ordered item on Amazon this year, and is probably going to be the best selling book since, well since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. The play by the same name is a whopping FIVE hours. And fans don’t want to miss a single minute. So far the play is exclusive to London, but there has been talk of a second show occurring on Broadway, and from there who knows. But that doesn’t mean Harry’s story will continue beyond this play.
J.K. Rowling said in an interview on Saturday that, “He [Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”
Sorry for those tears in our eyes.
For the fans mourning the end of Harry one shining beacon stands out, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them has yet to come out. Plus it’s speculated that there will be three movies in this series. Rowling has allegedly already penned the script for the second movie and will soon begin working on the third. It may not be Harry, but it’s still part of the magical world that we all love!
Now excuse us as we go and read the final story in the Harry Potter series.
