The company that promises to firm, slim and lift your bum, thighs, waist and even breasts (lift, mostly), has just introduced denim to their shape wear offerings. The slimming jeans are available in five styles and three washes, and they retail for $148.
Spanx promises that these aren’t jeans you’ll have to struggle into. Usually, denim is made from one yarn with stretch and one without. Spanx jeans have two stretchy yarns which “offer the ultimate comfort, recovery and body-contouring fit.” Their jeans, says the company’s website, feature three yarns instead of the traditional two.
There are two main categories among the denim’s five styles: The Signature and The Slim-X. The Signature jeans look a little like maternity pants with a meant-to-be-hidden tall waistband that sits atop what looks like a regular fly-front waistband. These promise to banish muffin top and trim the tummy as well as slim thighs and give you a perky-looking bum.
The Slim-X, according to a promotional video, have Spanx built right into the jeans so they function and look just like traditional denim — no maternity waistband. This style promises to trim your tummy, slim your thighs and lift your rear.
The company already offered a selection of leggings, pantyhose, shaping undergarments, bras, camisoles and even swimwear before adding denim. Spanx founder Sara Blakely was named the youngest self-made billionaire at 41 by Forbes Magazine in 2012, and if you’re interested in buying a pair of her jeans, this could be the first big step in turning the line from mostly underwear into a full ready-to-wear collection.
