Ever since the ladies of the Spice Girls got together for lunch last month, rumours have been going wild about whether or not they are planning a reunion tour. Turns out the reason behind the reunion lunch might have been to confirm details for the movie they’re planning.
Variety reports that all five members – Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) – are on board for an animated superhero movie about the group. The movie is said to have a “girl power” message and each girl will have a superpower unique to them that reflects their personality.
Right now the movie is being shopped around to different production partners around Hollywood and no studio has signed on yet. Even though the movie is in it’s early stages, a source says the women are “fired up about the idea”.
Last month, Mel B hinted that the Spice Girls would be performing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding in May. But don’t get your hopes up about a potential tour in the future. A source told Variety that talk of a reunion tour was “premature” and Posh Spice herself has seemed to deny any possibility of a tour in the future.
When the possibility of a superhero movie staring one of the biggest girl bands in the world is on the horizon, who needs a reunion tour?
