Mezze (pronounced Mazza ) is often a misunderstood concept. The word means literally ‘to savour” and it’s the way people of the Middle East collectively eat. It’s putting out on your table a variety of foods: hot, cold, sweet, savoury, bitter, sour, cooked, raw—anything, really! Basically, it’s like a smorgasbord. It’s about sharing and breaking bread together. There is no first course or main course in this style of eating.

If you ask Suzanne Husseini, the author behind Modern Flavours of Arabia, mezze is the perfect way to entertain!

Suzanne visited The Social‘s set to share some of her favourite mezze dishes, just in time for the holiday season! Click on each photo below to take you to the recipe.
