When Stefan Kuhnigk spilled his cup of coffee on a table during a work meeting, he wasn’t mortified like we would have been. Instead, the ad agency copywriter saw something magical. Kuhnigk visualized a coffee monster.

Yes, the coffee spill had taken the shape of an unusual monster during that meeting in 2011 and he took a pencil and drew what he saw. It opened up such a new way to be creative, Kuhnigk has been purposely spilling coffee ever since.

“I loved it because it was a link to being creative every day. Work back then was not that crazy [and] all my friends loved it,” he said to The Loop.

Story continues below slideshow.

Now the 31-year-old’s “Coffeemonsters” have a legion of followers on Instagram and Facebook — and we’re not surprised. The 400-something coffee monsters are quirky, adorable and, best of all, unique. It turns out, just like snowflakes, no two coffee spills are alike. Kuhnigk’s creation have become so popular (ever since he shared his creations on Bored Panda), he’s selling Coffeemonsters’ throw pillows, tank-tops and much more on society6.com.

Amazing, right? Check out many of Kuhnigk’s coffee monsters in the gallery above.
