Patio dining may be the best summer eating trend since barbecue, but it’s about to get knocked down a peg. Patio lovers, allow us to introduce you to the latest in outdoor (and indoor) dining: the dinner dome, where the beauty of the patio meets the luxury (and temperature control) of the great indoors.
Please, hold your applause until the end of the presentation.
Nestled under the Gardiner Expressway at The Bentway in Toronto’s downtown, Dinner With A View features a collection of clear heated domes, each a little ecosystem offering a unique and super cozy dining experience. All of the little pods contain a table set for a six, complete with blankets, pillows and two space heaters to combat the blustery outdoors. Each features a different aesthetic, including cozy rugs and house plants (just to prove how warm it is inside).
Not only is this experience a visual wonderland, it’s also de-licious. With courses created by esteemed chefs, there’s no shortage of good eats with cocktails to match. We might just have to rent out one of these babies for the entire season.
Dinner With A View has partnered with American Express Canada to bring this one-of-a-kind dining experience to Toronto from March 28 to May 2, and to Montreal from April 16 to May 18. As such, Amex members get first dibs on a visit to the domes with access to an exclusive ticket presale starting February 14 (great last-minute Valentine’s Day gift?) before they go on sale to the general public February 19.
Special guests and Amex members were invited to a special preview of the Toronto space ahead of the wider opening on March 28 to celebrate the launch of their new Platinum Card. Those special guests included Toronto-born model and dancer Coco Rocha, who demonstrated just how a whimsical experience like Dinner With A View works into a supermodel’s glamorous life (answer: very easily), and it’s just one example of the exclusive and elevated experiences available to Amex Platinum Cardmembers.
“This is really just bringing everyone together to show you can have an awesome experience,” Rocha said. “And I think of my life in travelling, I think of my life in food — I love food… This is my first time in the domes and it’s like eenie-meenie-miney-mo, which one would I prefer? Because each room is created with different plants, different furniture.”
Okay, where do we sign up?
