It’s that time of year again…

Flu season is here and, like every year, there is some confusion around the flu shot. We want to clear things up and make sure you’re prepared, so we asked pharmacist Manvir Sohal to talk about everything flu-related.

Cold vs. Flu.

We mix up the common cold and the flu all the time. A flu is much more serious and the symptoms tend to be more severe. The flu can become serious, especially for younger and older people, or people with compromised immune systems.

Flu symptoms

  • Fever
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

Flu shot

All provinces should get them in the next few weeks, though some provinces will have them before others. You can go into a pharmacy, like Rexall, to get the shot. No appointment necessary. It takes two weeks to kick in, so it’s better to get the shot sooner than later.
