Autumn is all about looking and feeling your best. According to registered dietician and nutritionist Nishta Saxena, being mindful about what we put into our bodies is the best way to achieve this! Looking at diet, lifestyle and Jamieson supplements, Nishta tells us how to achieve beauty from the inside out.

The expression “you are what you eat” could not be more true when it comes to beauty. Clean eating, regular exercise, and prioritizing sleep are all contributing factors to step up your beauty game. However, it’s safe to say that these things are easier said than done. Jamieson supplements are a great option when we lack the time and dedication we all wish we had. For the past 100 years, Jamieson has been Canada’s leading brand for vitamins with a reputation for quality and efficiency. It’s important to remember, when introducing any new supplement or medication into your diet, that you consult your doctor first.

Remember beauty starts from within! Make sure you check out the video above to see all of Nishta’s tips for great beauty health starting from the inside out in more detail.

Wrinkles and collagen

Skin is the first thing people see and the last thing we want people to notice is wrinkles. Collagen-rich foods are one way to keep wrinkles at bay – incorporating more meat, eggs, dairy, fish and bone broth into your diet is a great way to boost collagen. It’s especially important as you age because you start to lose this collagen. This miracle cure is found in bone, tissue, skin and muscle and it’s a matrix that essentially forms and plumps the skin to maintain a more youthful look.

Jamieson’s Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Liquid is another great and easy alternative to incorporating more collagen into your life. It tastes great, it’s strawberry flavoured, and promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines in just 28 days. It contains 2,500 mg of hydrolyzed collagen and 500 mcg of biotin which helps reduce those dreaded fine lines, while also promoting hair and nail health.

Hair and skin

For healthier hair, skin and nails, avoiding smoking, wearing sunscreen, making sleep a priority and working out at least four times a week are all key lifestyle elements that will set you on the right path. If you’re looking for a product specifically targeting overall skin, hair and nail health, Jamieson’s Advanced Hair Skin Nails is what you need. It’s a one-day formula containing 22 key ingredients, including 2,500 mcg of biotin. It promotes strong nails, thicker hair and overall skin health.

Simple skin-boosting sheet-pan meal

Glowing and radiant skin is the goal. With simple lifestyle and dietary changes you can be one step closer to achieving this glow without the need for highlighter. An antioxidant rich diet can improve skin elasticity, texture, hydration and help with age spots – check out Nishta’s Simple Skin-Boosting Sheet-Pan Meal below for a meal that gives your skin everything it needs to rejuvenate itself.

  • Peel and chop multi-coloured beets, carrots, and garlic.
  • Toss multi-coloured beets, orange carrots, and garlic with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and pepper.
  • Roast vegetables for 10 minutes at 375°.
  • Add salmon or salmon filet to the pan once the veggies have cooked for ten minutes. Cook the salmon until done (about 10 to 15 minutes depending on thickness) at 400°.
  • OR, in a separate cast-iron pan fry shrimp with garlic for two to three minutes (until pink). Serve with fresh lemon.

Beauty sleep

Sleep is an extremely vital part to any successful beauty routine. This rare delight allows for repair regeneration, increases mental clarity, decreases those unhealthy food cravings, and decreases the risk of heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes. To guarantee the best possible sleep it’s important to prepare yourself both mentally and physically. Here are Nishta’s tips for successful sleep hygiene:

  • Avoid blue light exposure from TV screens or phone screens one hour before bed. Music and reading are great alternatives.
  • Avoid heavy meals that include fat or protein three hours before bed.
  • Avoid caffeine 12 hours before bed, especially if you are sensitive to caffeine.
  • Avoid stressful thoughts before bed.
  • Think about investing in blackout blinds / curtains, or a sleep mask.

Another great option that improves sleep quality and repairs the body from within is Jamieson’s Beauty Sleep. It contains a combination of melatonin, collagen and biotin, and is a non-habit forming sleep aid that also helps with hair, nail and skin improvement.

Iron and B12

Lack of energy can be a result of iron or B12 deficiency. You could be suffering from this and not even know it, for this reason it’s important to get these levels checked. If deficient in this mineral and/or vitamin it can lead to hair loss, brittle nails and hair, dry skin and a pale complexion. Eating iron-rich foods such as meat, fish, seafood, and organ meats are a great way to combat this. Iron-rich vegetarian options include lentils, tofu, beans, fortified grain products and cooked green vegetables.

Jamieson’s Iron + B12 supplement boosts natural energy levels and prevents iron deficiency. It comes in a delicious tropical mango lime flavour, and for those who can’t swallow pills—it’s chewable.
