We’ve known for a few weeks that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expecting their second baby, but because Kate has been struggling with another bout of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (a.k.a. super-barfiness), we haven’t actually seen her since they made the announcement. Until now.
The Duchess was good to go on Tuesday morning, and at the request of Queen Elizabeth, Kate joined William at a hotel near their home at Kensington Palace where they welcomed the president of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam, and his wife, Mary (speaking of, how cute are they?). But enough about the work stuff and off to more pressing matters: What was Kate wearing?
Kate wore a grey plaid coat dress by one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, who just so happened to design her wedding dress, too. She paired it with black pumps and a Jane Taylor hat, so, basically, her signature style of sophistication and class. According to the Daily Mail, “the Lupin hat was made bespoke for Kate and comes in velour felt with a tear drop beret.” The Duchess completed the look with £1,090 Annoushka pearl and 18-carat yellow-gold diamond-encrusted earrings.
It was announced over the weekend that Kate is due in April, which means she’s likely at the beginning of her second trimester (roughly 13 weeks along). With the Palace adding that her condition is steadily improving, here’s hoping this is the first of many appearances she makes during this pregnancy. Let’s start with tonight as Kate is due to attend the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards in London. Hmm, wonder what she’ll be wearing? Whatever it is, we’re betting she will look gorgeous.
