The future is now.

The days of pining for a simple, non-time-intensive way to make your meals are over, sorta (if you like your food condensed into a small container).

The Genie, called “your private chef” by its creators, is roughly the size of a coffeemaker, and can produce any type of meal via “pods” containing dehydrated, 100 per cent natural ingredients.

Inspired by sci-fi series Star Trek, Genie inventors insist that, over time, the device will be able to intuit what its owner will want to eat. Yes, it’s that advanced. Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s Earl Grey tea, for example, would be at the ready.

“Eventually, Genie will know your microbiome and will prepare the pod for you, just for you, and you will eat better, even tastier and healthier,” said co-creator Doron Marco.

The pods’ ingredients are freeze-dried and have a shelf life of one to two years. It is expected to hit the U.S. market (not Canada, yet) in 2016.
