Just two princes honouring their mom
This August (the 31st, to be exact) marks the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana‘s tragic death, and in honour of the day her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, have set up a committee to commission and privately raise funds for a statue of their late mother. The best part? The memorial will go up on the grounds of their home, Kensington Palace.
“It has been twenty years since our mother’s death and the time is right to recognise her positive impact in the UK and around the world with a permanent statue,” the princes said in a statement. “Our mother touched so many lives. We hope the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on her life and her legacy.”
There’s no word on when the work will be finished but the goal is by year’s end. Those involved include one of Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Julia Samuel, one of Diana’s closest friends and a godmother to Prince George. And the committee will be led by Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Will and Harry’s former private secretary. They’ll help the princes select a sculptor and work closely with Historic Royal Palaces, which looks after Kensington Palace. So you know it’s going to be perfect.
Bieber got checked into the boards during a celebrity hockey game but was still all kinds of awesome
It was NHL All Star Weekend and before the best players took the ice at the Staples Center, a celebrity game went down. Justin Bieber was just one of the stars playing but found himself in a bad situation: in the corner against defenseman Chris Pronger. And Pronger didn’t hesitate to crush the Biebs against the glass, pinning him so he couldn’t move.
What made it all the more hilarious was Pronger’s ear-to-ear grin while he did it.
We interrupt your day to bring Chris Pronger pinning Justin Bieber into the boards at the #NHLALLSTAR celeb game.

Bieber did have an assist and scored an empty netter as time expired, so it wasn’t the worst outing. And we’re not the only ones who thought so:
“Twenty-five shots later, thank God he made it,” joked Cuba Gooding Jr., who scored the winning goal. “He really has nice skills, and he’s a real sweet kid, too.” Hey, he’s Canadian; what did you expect?
Kal Penn just got the sweetest revenge on the trolliest of trolls
Kal Penn, best known for being the Kumar to John Cho‘s Harold as well as starring on Designated Survivor, used to serve as a public engagement advisor to President Barack Obama. But his political and acting resumés don’t matter to some. On Saturday, Penn received a nasty tweet that said, in part, “you don’t belong in this country you f*cking joke.” Instead of engaging, Penn responded by starting a crowd-fund in the ignorant a-hole’s honour, on behalf of Syrian refugees. And let’s just say the response was immediate.
His original goal was $25,000 but after the weekend Americans — and many of those attempting to immigrate or travel to the U.S. — have had, it was surpassed. So a new goal of $250,000 was set — and THAT was surpassed.

The fundraising page, called “Donating To Syrian Refugees In The Name Of The Dude Who Said I Don’t Belong In America,” reached its second goal of $250,000 in less than 24 hours and remains open. At press time, the money raised is at $552,167. Bravo, Kal.
Ellen DeGeneres’ 59th birthday drew in huge stars
Ellen threw herself a birthday party this weekend and the only other thing that could have this many celebs in attendance is an awards show. Perhaps it helps that the SAG and PGA Awards went down and a lot of people were already in town, but TMZ reports that her guests included Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Gwyneth Paltrow, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Jessica Alba, Jimmy Kimmel, Michael Keaton and Cindy Crawford. If this is what 59 looks like, we can’t wait until her 60th.
Kim K’s stolen jewellery was probably all melted down
Ugh. And now comes to gross portion of our wrap-up. One of the men, Aomar Ait KIhedache, who allegedly robbed Kim Kardashian West in Paris in October reportedly told police how the heist came about, and what’s left of the jewellery they took.
French newspaper Le Monde reported that, with the exception of her 20-carat diamond engagement ring, everything else was melted down and sold in Antwerp, Belgium.
“For the jewellery never to be recognized, we made the decision to melt them,” KIhedache said, according to the newspaper via ET Online. “One of the people took care of it. He came back with bars … in all, there had to be 800 and a few grams, which gave an amount of ah … 25,000 or 28,000 [euros], something like that.”
As far as the ring goes, he reportedly told police that someone has it but are “afraid to sell” it because it’s kind of easy to spot.
KIhedache added they considered robbing Kim prior to the actual robbery, while she was attending Paris Fashion Week. “She specified that she didn’t wear fakes, the schedules when she came to France,” he reportedly said. “It was enough to look on the Internet to know everything, absolutely everything.”
He also called the robbery a “very simple affair” and was surprised by all the media surrounding the events. Um, NO. Not “simple” at all. Poor Kim.
