How much time do you waste folding laundry every week? If you add up every hour you spend doing laundry each month, how many days of your life would have been wasted folding that same shirt over and over again? Well, with this magic machine, you no longer have to even think about making time to fold, de-wrinkle or refresh your laundry.

FoldiMate can fold, steam and perfume your clothes and will be available to pre-order in 2017. That’s right. It’ll steam your clothes to minimize any wrinkles — for those times that we come home, exhausted after work and just toss everything on the floor in the rush to put on PJs. Worth it in the moment, but incredibly disappointing when you find a wrinkled ball-of-a-shirt crumpled on the ground in the morning. Whoops.

Although FoldiMate can’t fold your socks, towels or undergarments, it’s sure to save you a lot of time and effort. All you do is hang your laundry up on the rack as shown in the video (15-20 articles of clothing can fit at a time, depending on each one’s size), use the buttons to distinguish what kind of clothing you’re hanging up, and let FoldiMate work its magic. The machine can also sense how big the clothing is, what kind of material it’s made out of, how thick or thin it is and whether it’s a long or short-sleeved shirt.

Most of us don’t have a lot of extra space in our houses or apartments for another laundry machine, but we wouldn’t mind throwing out a few things to make space for this innovation. It’s 32 inches tall, 28 inches wide and only 65 pounds heavy, so feel free to measure your room before ordering it.

FoldiMate’s selling price is estimated to be around $700 to $850 USD (or around $900 to $1,100 CAD), but it’s probably worth the splurge. How could it not be when it does all the work for you? The website’s also offering a 10 per cent discount to anyone who registers to pre-order FoldiMate with a $10 down payment until the pre-order period begins in 2017.

Until now, we’ve only ever seen this kind of thing from The Jetsons or Futurama, but this futuristic invention could make a real difference in your life. You know what they say: the future is now.
