Children tend to be curious creatures, poking their noses into all kinds of situations and asking questions about various subjects. But sadly, science isn’t often one of those subjects. Even once they learn how hands-on it can be, it can still be a tough topic to sell. But there’s a new show that might just change all that. Because who doesn’t love superheroes that can travel through time?
Super Science Friends follows a group of famous scientists who fight bad guys in different time periods. It stars Einstein (actually, his teenage clone who has the ability to travel at super-speeds), Marie Curie (who, as the Mistress of Radiation, is all business), Darwin (who can metamorphosize into any animal), Tesla (the master of electricity), Tapputi (the world’s first chemist) and Freud. No one knows why he’s there but he claims he has the power to control people’s sexual thoughts which, sure, can come in handy every now and again.
The first episode has the ragtag group travelling back to investigate the widespread disappearance of apples so you know Isaac Newton has to be involved somehow. And there’s shades of sex, drugs and violence but, sadly, no rock and roll.
So keep in mind that Super Science Friends — which has released Episode 1 on Vimeo, with creator Brett Jubinville looking to get the series fully funded via Kickstarter — is more for older kids and not the little ones. But it’s the more mature audience that sometimes needs the inspiration, no?
