With so many superhero series on TV right now – Gotham! The Flash! Arrow! Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! – it was only a matter of time before someone mashed them all together in some wild and wacky way, so we figured better us than Ben Affleck, right?
May we present: Superhero Showdown. Here’s how you play:
1. Gather your friends – or friend. Two can indeed play at this game, but the more, the merrier.
2. The two people whose birthdays are closest go first. Each draws a superhero card from the deck (see below) and prepares for a Big Bang Theory-worthy debate about which superhero would win in a fight, based on his/her knowledge of the character and/or the descriptors listed on the cards.
3. But hold on just a second there, Sheldon. We’re not finished yet. After all, anyone can have a good, old-fashioned superhero argument. But we’ve added a twist to up the ante: Before the debate begins, the player from each team must also draw a curveball card (see below) and factor it into his/her character’s defence.
4. Then, it’s time to debate: Would The Flash in a giant hamster wheel really beat Wolverine in wool mittens? What about Iron Man without his money versus Daenerys Targaryen with a Swedish accent? Each player has one minute to present their case, followed by a 30-second rebuttal. As for the winner? Majority rules. Two points go to the victor, squat to the loser. In the case of a tie, each player receives one point. Play until you run out of steam or booze, whichever comes first.
Trust us: Fighting with your friends has never been this fun.
