Vancouver was left with a hard problem yesterday after a vehicle rammed into a power pole.
The collision with the large, surging rod left a mess in the downtown area, leaving about 800 people without electricity. The affected areas were quickly marked in red on a map released by B.C. Hydro:

Crews were left to handle a rather large and unwieldy problem, but stood firm and were able to restore power just before 3 p.m. yesterday. Most customers were left satisfied as a result, but a few insisted on being testy about the whole thing:
.@bchydro Ahem. We are really getting screwed by this power outage. I’ll see myself out.

B.C. Place Stadium, which was scheduled to host a match for the FIFA Women’s World Cup that afternoon, was never affected. That means it’s probably safe to say everyone got the happy ending they were looking for.
Especially the surging power pole.
