Susan Boyle became a household name in 2009 when she competed on Britain’s Got Talent. Pretty impressive, considering the series doesn’t air here and, back then, we only had clips and word of mouth to rely on. But thanks to America’s Got Talent: The Champions, we got to see her do her thing and prove, once again, why she’s here to stay.

SuBo’s set for AGT: Champions began with footage from her original BGT audition. And no matter how many times you see it, it still breaks your heart when Susan awkwardly takes to the stage, that cynical look on Simon’s face as members of the audience laugh, not knowing what to expect from this woman who certainly doesn’t look the part. Then she opened her mouth, and the crowd went wild. And it happened again on Monday night.

And, of course, she earned the Golden Buzzer from Mel C; the only thing that would’ve made it sweeter and full circle was if that honour came from Simon.

Boyle has had quite the career since that fateful audition a decade ago but, funnily enough, she didn’t win her season of BGT. She was the clear favourite but wound up in second behind dance group Diversity.

Based on her rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” and reaction to her performance, however, we have a feeling that runner-up is not going to happen this time around.
