Fans got to witness an epic moment of angst at Taylor Swift’s concert in Los Angeles last night. Two generations —and we mean generations, Taylor was a wee child of four when Alanis scored the mega-hit— of scorned music superstars united to blow off some serious steam on stage.

At her third straight night at the Staples Center, T-Swift invited Canadian pop icon Alanis Morissette on stage to duet Morissette’s ’90s hit “You Oughta Know.”

T-Swift introduced Alanis by saying that she “defined the music of her decade. She inspired a generation of confessional singer-songwriters who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you actually had… you could get really, really mad if you wanted to.”

Naturally they rocked out hard to the song that Swift called “probably, inarguably, the greatest breakup song of all-time.”

Watch T-Swift and Alanis perform “You Oughta Know” above. It was an inspiring moment.
