The big moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: Target Canada’s liquidation sales are now underway.

Everything* in the stores (some exceptions apply, apparently) will be sold for up to 30 per cent off!

…Not exactly a massive discount, amirite?

As legions of excited customers piled into Target stores expecting Black Friday-type deals this morning, many of them started to feel a creeping sense of disappointment.

It turns out the deals didn’t live up to what Canadians expected, which seems to be the ongoing theme of Target’s legacy in the country. In fact, the same problems mentioned throughout its existence here (like a lack of merchandise on the shelves, for example), were still prevalent:

There also seems to be a lot of customers who can’t find the items that actually go for the full 30 per cent off, as advertised:

Which might be because all of the heavily discounted items are already sold out…

For others though, the biggest frustration seemed to be that you could still find better deals at Walmart.

As the anger with long lines, lackluster deals and poor product availability started to grow, the epic truth bombs quickly followed. “Crap” seemed to be the choice word for most:


But hey, even in that sea of disgruntled shoppers, at least there were a few of them who tried to make the best of a bad situation:

Yet again, though, it looks like Target really missed the mark.
