Swifties and Katy-Cat’s can all sleep well tonight now that the two pop stars have finally made peace.
This feud has been brewing for six years strong, but it seems they are both ready to shake it off. It appears that the only beef between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift is the hamburger costume that Katy wore in Tay’s new video “You Need to Calm Down”.
Let’s hope that no animals—or pop stars—were harmed in the making of this treaty. We can only hope for some awesome pop-star queen collabs now that this feud is over!
Although the celebs are (seemingly) friends again, here’s what went down between them.
Taylor and Katy’s feud began in 2013 when Katy poached three of Taylor’s back-up dancers from her Red world tour. Katy had already worked closely with these dancers and wanted them to perform on her own tour, Prism. Later in 2014 Taylor revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that her and an unnamed artist were “straight up enemies” alluding to the mystery woman being Katy for trying to “sabotage” her tour.
Following that interview, Katy posted a sub-tweet that was clearly about Tay.
Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…

Over the years there were a series of subtweets and songs, but the nail in the coffin was when Katy spoke to James Corden (later in 2017) and said that “she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it”. Katy admitted that she wanted this behind her, but Taylor was not willing to speak to her.
It seems that Katy really did want to find an end to their beef. Katy sent Taylor an olive branch (literally) in May 2018 with a note that said she was “deeply sorry” for the demise of their relationship.
It has been almost a year since this peace offering was sent and it seems like it has paid off. Katy- Cats and Swifties have taken to Twitter to share their excitement over the girls patching up the problems of their past. For their fans sake, let’s hope the pair remain friends!
