Prior to Wednesday, it had been four years since Taylor Swift appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and now we might know why. The two got into a discussion about hygiene habits — something one always wants to discuss in front of millions — when Ellen asked the game-changing question: “Do you wash your legs in the shower?” And let’s just say Swift’s response was polarizing, at best.

Yes, @TaylorSwift washes her legs. But only when she shaves them.

Well, firstly, depending on the person, you either took that as “Taylor Swift doesn’t wash her legs in the shower” or “Taylor Swift shaves her legs every day.” We thought the latter and wondered, who the heck has the time to shave their legs every freakin’ day? Ellen, on the other hand, had an issue with the actual cleaning of the stems and posted a poll to get to the bottom of this.

Technically, though, let’s give credit where credit is due. Ellen’s question to Taylor was clearly inspired by a debate that arose earlier this week, thanks to an innocent Twitter poll from user Conor Arpwel that went viral.

For the most part, at least according to those on Twitter, shaving and washing are not the same thing.

Others, however, don’t get the whole daily leg-washing business.

But all you have to do is take a look at both Twitter polls and the leg-washers have it (Arpwel’s poll currently sits at 80 per cent of people washing their legs, while Ellen’s says that 75 per cent wash always, 16 per cent wash sometimes, and 9 per cent never do). Which begs the question: Do YOU wash your legs in the shower?
