Taylor Swift is ready to change things up

For years, people have wanted to know about Taylor Swift‘s political leanings and who she would endorse, but she always remained silent. She was clearly trying to be neutral and not alienate any fans, but many criticized her because they believed she could make an impact. That’s a lot of responsibility for anyone, but Taylor’s finally decided enough is enough and she made it explicitly clear what her beliefs are, and who she will stand by. Are you ready for it?

I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent. I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting! 🗳😃🌈

Swifty revealed who she is voting for (Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives, both of whom deserve the name check) and called out Marsha Blackburn, a woman running for Senate in Tennessee whose voting record in Congress “appalls and terrifies” Tay. Swift made it clear that the battle for LGBTQ and women’s rights is real and she’s ready to fight that fight more than ever, she touched on the racial injustice that still exists today and how it’s both “terrifying” and “prevalent,” and that discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender simply can no longer be tolerated.

Ultimately, though, she encouraged her young fans to vote as many have up until today to register. And it seems Taylor’s message has been heard. According to Vote.org, voter registration has spiked and as of Monday, there had been over 50,000 new registrations.

Of course Trump had something to say about Taylor.

Ha! Swift and her people do their research so it’s probably safe to say that Taylor knows more about her candidates than The Donald. Her statement was carefully worded, eloquently put, and made an impact that will be far reaching indeed.

Patrick Adams and Troian Bellisario are parents

Duchess Meghan is an aunt again! OK, sort of. Honorary aunt, if we’re being super-technical. Her former Suits co-star and on-screen love interest Patrick J. Adams and his wife, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario, welcomed their first child, a baby girl who they will raise to “be powerful, to always speak her mind and heart and to live without fear.” And maybe be a Taylor Swift fan? Whatever the case, love this.

Bellisario added that she will “do my best to raise her to be kind, strong and whatever the heck she wants to be.” Can these two, now three, be more awesome? Congrats to the new family.

Busy Philipps claims James Franco assaulted her during their Freaks & Geeks days

Busy Philipps has a new memoir coming out and in it, she accuses former Freaks & Geeks co-star James Franco of assault.

While filming a scene during the show’s one and only season in which they played love interests, Busy was directed to gently hit James in the chest, and when she did just that, he screamed at her and shoved her to the ground.

“He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, ‘DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!'” Philipps writes in her book, This Will Only Hurt a Little, according to Radar Online. “And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me.”

Busy added that she cried to co-star Linda Cardellini, who encouraged her to tell her manager about the situation. Philipps wrote that Franco apologized after the powers-that-be instructed him to, but he was never formally punished for the incident.

Earlier this year, five women accused the actor of sexual misconduct, which he denied. Franco has yet to publicly respond to Philipps’ claims.

Kanye deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts, oooooooooooooh welllllllllllllllllllllll

After weeks of controversy, Kanye West did us all a favour and deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Saturday. There was not only the mad tweeting that came under fire, but the unforgettable — and some would add, unforgivable — pro-Trump rant during the closing credits of last weekend’s Saturday Night Live. (More on that in a sec.)

Of course, this isn’t the first time Ye’s social media accounts have gone dark. In fact, the last time he didn’t return until almost a year later. His absence didn’t change anything since shortly after that Twitter return, he told TMZ Live that slavery “is a choice.”

According to wife Kim‘s emoji-filled tweet, Kanye’s album, Yandhi, will be released on November 23. So we’ve got a few weeks to enjoy the silence from Ye. He’ll be back, though. He always comes back.

Pete Davidson ripped Kanye’s pro-Trump rant on SNL to awesome little bits

It took someone as “crazy” as Kanye to talk about his pro-Trump tirade on SNL last week. Hey, those were Pete Davidson‘s words, not ours. The SNL cast member addressed it during Weekend Update, explaining that many thought castmate Michael Che “should be the one to talk about Kanye, but we discussed it, you know, because Che is black, but I’m crazy and we both know which side of Kanye is at the wheel right now.”

Davidson described it as “one of the worst, most awkward things I’ve ever seen here,” how uncomfortable it was for the cast to stand behind West, his “stupid” MAGA hat which Pete wished he had “bullied him” to take it off since it “might upset some people, like, your wife or every black person ever.”

As someone who knows about mental health issues first, Davidson advised West to stop bragging about being off his meds and “take ’em,” adding, “Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass, OK?.” ALL OF THIS.
