Where did Taylor Swift go?
It’s easy to take for granted that Taylor Swift is just … there. She may have been staying out of the public eye over the last several months, but with the recent groping trial all over the news it’s not like she’s completely disappeared. Until now. Fans have been in a panic upon learning that Swifty’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts have been wiped clean.
But make no mistake: this is no accident. Taylor is a calculated, savvy superstar who knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s been a few years since 1989 debuted and over a year since the tour ended but with no catchy summer singles, it’s admittedly been quite the drought. We’re parched — and she knows it. It’s effective PR, without actually doing anything.
With the trial out of the way (clearly not an ideal time to launch an album campaign), Swifty could very well be gearing up to give the people what they want. She’s in a normal relationship that she’s keeping out of the public eye, she was victorious with that lawsuit and she knows we miss her like crazy. The timing couldn’t be better for her to drop some new music.
Justin Bieber’s song had social media wondering who the song is about, ahem, Selena
It was bound to happen. Justin Bieber released a new song called “Friends” and when a song like that comes out, it’s easy to assume it’s, once again, about Selena Gomez. Guess that’s what happens when you’re a musician living in the spotlight and you have an equally famous ex-girlfriend.

Justin to Selena: Can we be friends?
Selena: Bad Liar.

If anything, “Friends” is a step in a positive direction for Bieber. Not just the lyrics, but he’s letting us know his career hasn’t stopped, in spite of cancelling the remainder of his Purpose tour.

Elisabeth Moss makes a rare statement about scientology
The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss is finally done promoting the series’ first season for the Emmys, and took to Instagram to celebrate it. ET Online reports that one comment stuck out, a simple question that asked about the difference between the Church of Scientology — of which Moss is a member — and Gilead, the totalitarian government in Handmaid’s.
Last Handmaids Tale season 1 event until the Emmys! Thank you for coming out everyone last night, your love and support of the show means more to us than I’ll ever be able to express in words. Truly. And now we get to go work on bringing you season 2!!! Which by the way is going to blow your minds…😜#handmaidstale 📷 @ladygraypix
“Love this adaptation so much,” read the comment. “Question though, does it make you think twice about Scientology? Gilead and Scientology both believe that all outside sources (aka news) are wrong and evil…it’s just very interesting.”
Moss usually keeps her involvement with $ci on the DL but she replied, “That’s actually not true at all about Scientology.”
She continued: “Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and ‘THT’ hit me on a very personal level. Thanks for the interesting question!”
Huh. Something to think about.
Brad and Angelina are getting sued
Well, guess this is one way for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to come together, though it’s not exactly the reunion we’d been hoping for. The exes are being sued by the interior designer who worked on the Chateau Miraval, their home in Provence, France. Odile Soudant claims Pitt hired her to illuminate the 17th-century property; Pitt stopped paying her, and now her company has gone bankrupt. You can read about the entire mess in The Guardian, where Soudant told the paper, “I am an artist and this is my work. When someone tries to steal my work it is something else.”
Why is Jolie being dragged into this? Well, they were together at the time, but also, Miraval is where Angie’s Guerlain ad was shot and some of the designer’s lighting installations reportedly appear in it. Soudant wants credit, and rightfully so. Uh, boy. You know Angelina’s just shaking her head at the numbers Brad spent and owes (which are staggering) but hopefully this gets resolved. Poor woman. (Soudant, not Jolie, though … )
Robin Thicke’s going to be a daddy again
Robin Thicke‘s had some tough times but it looks like things are getting brighter. April Love Geary, his girlfriend of three years, took to Instagram to announce that she and Thicke are expecting.
What’s sweeter? Her due date is March 1: Robin’s late father’s birthday.
It was quite a weekend to celebrate because Thicke and his ex-wife, Paula Patton, have finally ended their long custody battle over their son, Julian. TMZ reports the two will equally split time with the seven-year-old and share in their son’s expenses. As long as Julian’s best interests are being looked after, and the kid knows he’s loved, and Robin and Paula keep their feelings about each other separate from what they feel for their son, that’s all that matters. And Julian looks to be adapting quite well.
Happy days indeed.
