After two full weeks of mysterious countdowns, mind-boggling visual clues and coy teases, Taylor Swift AT LONG LAST has dropped the 4.26 thing. Fans speculated that it could be anything from a new album to a clothing line to just an announcement.

And now we have our answer: it’s a brand new single and music video for “ME!” with Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. We didn’t see that collab coming, but it turned out to be sooo right.

We were honestly prepping ourselves to be a little disappointed by whatever Tay was going to drop (we’ve been burned too many times before), but a single and music video is a pretty solid offering.

And since this is Taylor Alison Swift we’re talking about, not only did she hype us up with a total image pivot (see: snake turning into butterflies), she created a video that is ripe for the memeing. Come on, home girl knew exactly what she was doing with that “I am calm!” moment, which instantly became Taylor Twitter’s new mantra.

So yeah, everyone basically made the same joke, but honestly we’re not even mad, because it’s going to take us a long time to get over this face:

Of course, one of the things fans were decidedly NOT CALM about is the fact that she is once again acknowledging her ~reputation~ and announcing to the the world a new Swift Era. Snakes are out, y’all, butterflies are in.

(*Immediately gets butterfly tattoo*).

While some Swifties were having a near-religious experience watching the video, other facets of the fandom were hard at work analyzing every frame. To make matters worse, Taylor left a comment on the YouTube video that sent fans reeling.

“Oh and there’s a secret in the video I’ve been keeping for months – let’s see who can guess it,” she wrote.

Don’t do this to us, Taylor. You know fans are going to meticulously comb through the video, even without a tease like that. The prevailing theory was that TayTay has been engaged to BF Joe Alwyn for months… Or she got a new cat.

Looks like the new cat may be the right answer. Late Friday morning, Tay posted this Instagram pic of herself with a new kitty and the caption “And then there were three.” Since she already had two cats (Meredith and Olivia), maybe this is the third? We’d like to go on the record and guess that the new addition is named Annalise, keeping with her Shonda Rhimes theme.
