Shortly after releasing her new song, “You Need to Calm Down,” Taylor Swift revealed that the video would come on Monday. And after repeatedly refreshing her YouTube channel, it finally arrived. And it is glorious. Because not only does it star Tay but also many of her very famous friends.

The video for the second single off Swift’s upcoming album Lover is as colourful and summery as it gets. And importantly, it’s a glorious, overt celebration of Pride, which is fitting for the LGBTQ anthem. Set in a candy-coloured trailer park, we get a glimpse of the many GOAT residents and neighbours that would instantly make it an enviable place to call home. And because Taylor is super-savvy, she knew that it would take repeated viewings to track and notice every familiar face. Which we did. Over and over. Not only is it obvious that Swift’s contact list is full of bold-name talent but the stars she enlisted helped the track come to pastel-hued life.

All the cameos

In no particular order, we’ve got: Ellen DeGeneres, Laverne Cox, RuPaul, Billy Porter, Adam Lambert, Ciara, Adam Rippon, Todrick Hall, Chester Lockheartm Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Reynolds, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita, the Queer Eye guys (Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk and Antoni Porowski), Dexter Mayfield, Hannah Hart, and Drag Queen alumnis Akeria Chanel Davenport, Riley Knoxx, Adore Delano, Delta Work, Jade Jolie, Tatianna, Trinity K Bonet and Trinity the Tuck—please let us know if we forgot anyone.

Where’s the beef? SQUASHED

Really, though, the best part, hands down, was Taylor and Katy Perry coming together in the end, with Katy dressed as a cheeseburger (in reference to her internet-breaking Moschino Met Gala after-party look) Tay as a pack of fries and the two literally squashing their beef. Now that’s how you make up after a very public and lengthy feud.

If you recall, the singers had after a conflict over their backup dancers years ago but it was Perry who took the high road first, not only publicly apologizing in 2017 but, more recently, sending Taylor an actual olive branch that may have ended the bad blood. Swift responded with a delicious peace offering and they are all good now.

Hmm, kind of gives hope for Taylor, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Maybe one day, Kimye will appear as a milkshake in one of Swift’s videos and a make an extra happy meal out of it.
