Talk about a royal flush. Before Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited Cambodia this week, she reportedly requested that a special bathroom facility be constructed. The outhouse, which was fully air conditioned, took about two weeks to build and cost 66 times the average annual salary in Cambodia. The worst part though, was that the princess didn’t even use it. Instead, she took pictures of the outside and moved on. Meanwhile, a large portion of Cambodia’s population doesn’t have access to toilets at all.
Gee, how admirable. When police first stopped U.K. resident Emily Davis, 21, to ask about her disabled parking permit in Gunwharf Quays mall parking lot, she initially said her grandmother was shopping nearby. It didn’t take long for the officer to figure out her grandma had actually passed away about a year earlier. “I was using it in her honour,” she finally confessed. “If Gunwharf wasn’t so expensive I wouldn’t have done it.” Davis is now on the hook for £1,121.20 ($2,105) in total fines and costs.
If you get gassy from time to time, you might want to stay away from Vienna. Edin Mehic says he was eating a kabob at a bar when he suddenly felt bloated and let out a burp. He didn’t think anything of it, until a police officer approached him from behind and fined him 70 Euros ($103) for “public decency with a loud belch next to a police officer”. More than 100 people are now planning a “loud belch flashmob” in protest.
And it looks like he will not be having fries with that. Bacon Double Cheeseburger, formerly Sam Smith, was drinking with his buddies when he decided it would be an awesome idea to change his name to that of a fast food staple. Unlike other drunken name change stories we’ve reported in the past, however, Smith doesn’t regret his decision. As for his fiance though, she isn’t pleased.
There must have been a funny 911 call behind this one. A pony dressed as a unicorn was being used to take pictures with children when the animal somehow managed to escape. Unable to catch it initially, police deployed a helicopter with heat-seeking radar to located the pony in an orchard. Fortunately, the animal was located unharmed and is back with her owner.
