The 2015 Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday morning by everyone’s favourite pie-thrower, Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba, and by So You Think You Can Dance host-with-the-most Cat Deeley. And we’ve got to say, the results are pretty mixed.

For the first time ever, each category features seven — not five — nominees in order to account for some eligibility changes as well as the ongoing debate over what’s a comedy and what’s a drama. Lucky for us, that means Canadian star Tatiana Maslany finally got some love for her multiple roles on Orphan Black.

It also means that while some of our faves (Amy Schumer, Viola Davis) got nods, some of our others (Jim Parsons, Michael Sheen) were left high and dry. So, we’ve made some snap judgements of our own about who/what should win, who/what will win and who/what really shoulda probably been nominated. Here we go:

Comedy Series

Modern Family
Parks & Recreation
Silicon Valley
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

What should win: Parks and Recreation. It took this long for the comedy to get some love, and we want it to go all the way. For once.
What will win: Transparent. Even though we still feel it borders more on a drama. Or Veep. The Emmys love them some Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Okay, so do we.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: Um, hello, Big Bang Theory? Also, where’s the love for Jane the Virgin? The critical darling had people salivating when it debuted.

Drama Series

Better Call Saul
Downton Abbey
Game of Thrones
House of Cards
Mad Men
Orange Is The New Black

What should win: Game of Thrones. Winter is coming, after all.
What will win: Game of Thrones. Because, well…winter is coming.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: Sons of Anarchy for its final season, and every single network show in existence. Namely, newcomers EmpireHow to Get Away with Murder and The Good Wife. Oh, and Parenthood, which was utterly heartwarming and wonderful in its final season.

Limited Series

American Crime
American Horror Story: Freak Show
Olive Kitteridge
Honorable Woman
Wolf Hall

What should win: Honorable Woman. Maggie Gyllenhaal was completely fantastic.
What will win: Honorable Woman.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: We suppose the Emmys didn’t love The Jinx: The Life and Death of Robert Durst as much as we did.

Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Kyle Chandler
Jeff Daniels
Jon Hamm
Bob Odenkirk
Liev Schreiber
Kevin Spacey

Who should win: Liev Schreiber. Ray Donovan gets half the love it deserves.
Who will win: Kyle Chandler. With clear eyes and full hearts.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: Matthew Rhys for The Americans. And really, it would have been lovely to give Patrick Dempsey some love for his final run as Derek Shephard on Grey’s Anatomy, no?

Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Claire Danes
Viola Davis
Taraji P. Henson
Tatania Maslany
Elisabeth Moss
Robin Wright

Who should win: Tatiana Maslany. It’s been three years coming, people! Viola Davis is a close second though. The scene from HTGAWM in which she took off her wig and makeup will go down in television history.
Who will win: Taraji P. Henson. The buzz she’s gotten for playing Cookie on Empire has even reached Sesame Street.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: We hated Gemma Teller, but that’s why Katey Sagal deserved love for her final turn on Sons of Anarchy. And no Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife?? Blasphemous.

Lead actor in a comedy

Anthony Anderson
Louis C.K.
Don Cheadle
Will Forte
Matt LeBlanc
William H. Macy
Jeffrey Tambor

Who should win: Matt LeBlanc. Episodes is pure genius, and he’s a large reason why.
Who will win: Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent. Again, that buzz thing.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: Where to start? Jim Parsons, for one. We’re still waiting for someone to yell “Bazinga!”

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Edie Falco
Lisa Kudrow
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Amy Poehler
Amy Schumer
Lily Tomlin

Who should win: Amy Schumer. Because, she’s Amy Schumer. However, Lisa Kudrow did an amazing job portraying the dark return of Valerie Cherish in The Comeback.
Who will win: JLD #FTW.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: It would have been particularly nice to see Constance Wu in here for Fresh Off the Boat (we all know she makes that show), or Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez at least mentioned.

Reality-Competition Program

The Amazing Race
Dancing With the Stars
Project Runway
So You Think You Can Dance
Top Chef
The Voice

What should win: The Voice. The chemistry between the mentors makes every week a memorable one. Plus, Adam Levine.
What will win: The Amazing Race. It always does. Would YOU mess with Phil Keoghan?
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: Let’s go with Survivor. That seems to be the only one not on this list, right?

Variety Talk Series

The Colbert Report
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
Jimmy Kimmel Live
Last Week Tonight
The Late Show
The Tonight Show

What should win: Last Week Tonight. John Oliver makes our lives a little bit better every time he’s on screen.
What will win: We’re split between The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Late Show and The Colbert Report, since all three have lost a host this year. But for fun, let’s say Jimmy Kimmel Live.
What shoulda/coulda/woulda won: The late-night female hosts that exist only in our imaginations.

The 2015 Emmys, hosted by Andy Samberg in L.A., will air on Sunday, Sept. 20 on CTV.
