The 2016 iHeartMusic MMVAs were fire2. Between an intimate performance by Nick Jonas, a smoking display of feminine perfection by Fifth Harmony, and just the presence of Shawn Mendes‘ face, there wasn’t a dull moment all night. Gigi Hadid slayed in her plethora of ensembles, never being seen onstage in the same outfit twice. We wish we had a bottomless closet like hers.

We were treated to some stellar performances from the best of the best. Surprising us all, Tyler Posey took the stage with the likes of Nick Jonas and Macklemore to perform a beautiful original song for Gigi. Stemming from their Lip Sync Battle–where Gigi won–Tyler had something to prove. And he definitely did. Who knew that wolf-boy could sing?

But no one could top Desiigner‘s performance when he threw caution to the wind and himself at the crowd. That’s right. A full on dive, followed by an extended crowd-surf. It all could’ve gone wrong, but fortunately he landed in a group of energetic (and strong) fans. Phew.

Nick Jonas also got up close and personal with fans, performing his new single, ‘Close,’ while walking through the crowd. While Nick is beautiful and his voice was flawless, the best part of the performance was the crowd reaction. Several girls literally died and the rest can’t even. He also dedicated his award for Best International Artist to victims of the Orlando shooting and other tragic events, one of a few tributes of the night.

Canada’s sweetheart Shawn Mendes owned the night in the most adorable way. He drove himself to the red carpet, brought his dad as his date, talked about prom and worried about his upcoming math exam. And then, of course, went out and debuted his new single ‘Treat You Better’ like it was nobody’s business. There’s no question about why Canada loves him. Plus, we mentioned his face, right?

We collectively (Canada, that is) garnered high praise from a number of celebrities. Lucy Hale fangirled over ‘the world’s hottest Prime Minister,’ Shay Mitchell talked about how great it was to be home and Nash Grier marveled at the amazing talent that continues to come out of Canada. The peace emoji was also officially deemed the official Canadian national emoji by Amber Rose. Welcome to 2016, when countries need national emojis.

Then, to cap off an amazing night, Fifth Harmony took the stage and ROCKED IT. Those ladies are absolutely ah-mazing.
