It’s not exactly easy to summarize a country as large as Canada into a 20-second commercial, but The Amazing Race Canada found a way to do it.
Drawing on every bit of Canadiana they could possibly think of, host Jon Montgomery is shown ziplining through all the things that make our country great. But it’s the way they pack so much into each individual image that makes it so impressive:
Just in the opening frame alone we have:
- Canada geese
- A lacrosse stick
- A hockey stick
- Maple syrup in a maple-leaf shaped bottle
- A lumberjack shirt
- A t-shirt underneath that reads “sorry”
Did we also mention the entire commercial is set to “Born to Be Wild”, which is sung by a half-Canadian band (9)? Montgomery is also wearing a pair of snowshoes you can’t see yet (10).
…Sorry about that, eh?
We also found references to:
13. The Prairies
15. The CN Tower
16. The Harbourfront Centre Tower
17. The Calgary Tower
18. The Peace Tower
21. The Canadian Pacific Railway
22. Totem poles
23. Polar bears
24. A beaver
Not bad for 20 seconds!
That said, we’re sure we’ve missed at least a few (we have deadlines to meet, people). If you can spot any other Canadian stereotypes in the video above, let us know in the comments below! You can check out the commercial for yourself right here.
